Afocal Photography

Imaging through the telescope eyepiece with a camera

Definition

Afocal photography uses a camera (often a smartphone) to capture images through a telescope's eyepiece. While less optimal than direct imaging with a planetary camera, it's accessible for beginners. Challenges include vignetting, alignment, and compression artifacts. Uranum automatically detects afocal footage and optimizes processing accordingly.
